    Mia Segal was Dr. Feldenkrais' first assistant, collaborator and associate for sixteen years, after which together, they trained students worldwide.

    Of Mia, Feldenkrais said: "With you, I have reached summits that alone, I could not reach. The best lessons I ever gave, were inspired by your encouraging gaze”.

    Mia is known for her unequalled mastery of the work and as a superb teacher. The unique design of her programs is testimony to her vast experience and leadership in teaching this method. She is committed to ensure that this work continues in the essential and powerful form it was given to her by Dr. Feldenkrais during their many years of collaboration and friendship. Mia has been acclaimed worldwide as the standard bearer for the applications and philosophy of Dr. Feldenkrais' Mind Body Studies. Mia has a black belt in Judo, which she received in the Kodokan, Tokyo, in 1970.

    Leora Gaster grew up under the personal guidance of Dr. Feldenkrais and has spent the last 3 decades developing the curriculum and methodology of his complete work in Mind Body Studies for MBS Academy.

    Leora has been teaching Mind Body Studies internationally for over 30 years, collaborating with her mother, Mia Segal, in conducting courses for all levels and multiple professional applications. Leora wrote the comprehensive set of manuals and Core Principles of MBS Practice and Teaching and has produced video and audio recordings, illustrating its foundational elements and applications.

    Leora enhanced her extensive knowledge of MBS work with a degree in Human Biology from Stanford University and she is also an NLP trainer. Leora received a black belt in Judo from the Kodokan, Tokyo, when she was 16, with special commendations and training at the master level.

    Elke graduated from MBS Academy in 1995 in Holland. She has been participating in MBS’s Post Graduate Advanced seminars since 1998. Elke began her own MBS private practice in Munich in 1995, where she conducts MBS group classes, workshops and gives private lessons. Elke has also been practicing Aikido since 1983, studying with Watanabe Sensei and visiting Japan many times to further her studies. She graduated with a 5th Dan (Aikikai) and teaches Aikido classes for children at the Social Department of Munich and in her own Dojo.

    Grace completed her Feldenkrais Training in 2002 and became an MBS Master Practitioner in 2011. She runs a private practice in Seoul, Korea and is organizing and teaching MBS Korea’s first Professional Foundation Training. Her background is in Exercise Physiology, Neuroscience, Biotechnology and patent law.

    Margit completed a Feldenkrais Training in Lewes, GB in 1994. Since 2000, she continues to study with MBS Academy and qualified as an MBS Practitioner in 2005. Her background includes 20 years working as a physical education teacher, specializing in track and field. She currently runs a private MBS practice in Northern Italy where she specializes in working with children. She teaches MBS Group Classes in both German and Italian and offers personal Individual Lessons. Margit continues to work in schools with students and teachers. She also conducts seminars for physiotherapists, music teachers, and physical education teachers.

    Jochen graduated from Mia Segal’s Zurich 3 Foundation Training in 1993. He runs a private practice where he teaches mainly MBS at his center, Praxis Ayuda in Berlin. Jochen worked as a special needs teacher (remedial work with children from 1991-2004 and “Lerina-Therapie” (therapy for children after craniocerebral injury) from 1985-1995. He is also trained in body-centered psychological therapy (Villa, das Centrum fur Psychotherapie).

    Angelika graduated from Gabi Yaron’s Feldenkrais Training in 1987 in Munich, Germany. She complete the MBS Foundation Training in 1990 in Nijmegen, Netherland. Angelika has a private practice in Munich and teaches workshops in Germany and Italy.

    Erhard graduated from Mia Segal’s Zurich 1 Foundation Training in 1986. His background includes studying at the Vienna Academy of Applied Arts, working as a teacher, practicing yoga, Tai Chi and Aikido. In 1979, Erhard had his first contact with the Feldenkrais work and in 1981 organized the first Feldenkrais workshop in Austria. Since being certified as a Feldenkrais Practitioner in 1986, Erhard has been a regular participant in Advanced Trainings with MBS Academy. He has worked as an MBS Assistant and Senior Assistant in several MBS Foundation Trainings.

    Erhard has private practices in Vienna and Carinthia where he works with clients of all ages. He conducts Advanced Trainings in Austria, Germany, Italy and Greece.

    Chieko graduated from a  Training in Tokyo in 2000. She was first introduced to Group Classes in 1985 and began studying with Mia in 1997 at the Japan Feldenkrais Training. Chieko is a professional traditional Japanese dance teacher. In her MBS practice she specializes in ballet and dance. She is interested in MBS Academy’s way of guiding, leading, and directing students.

    Patty graduated from a Feldenkrais Training in New York in 1998, and became an MBS Master Practitioner in 2011. During her 30 plus years experience as an Occupational Therapist she pioneered the development of the Occupational Therapy training program in Zimbabwe. Patty is a Certified Teaching Assistant for CranioSacral Therapy and Manual Lymphatic Drainage with the International Alliance of Healthcare Educators. She has a private practice in Feldenkrais, CranioSacral Therapy, Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Lymphedema treatment in Novato and San Rafael, California.

    Chris graduated from MBS Academy in 2006. Since attending his first Feldenkrais workshop in 1989, he has been integrating the work into his profession: Posture and Movement Therapy (Oefentherapeut Cesar). He helps people with pain, stress, and breathing problems. By helping them become aware of what they are doing they are able to become aware of all the other possibilities which were previously outside of their awareness.

    Sabine graduated from MBS Academy in 1992 in Neijmegen, Netherlands. She was an MBS Senior Assistant in MBS Foundation Training from 1999-2001. Sabine has a private practice in Brazil where she provides Individual Lessons, Group Classes, and specializes with children. Sabine opened MBS Brazil and has begun teaching MBS Foundation Trainings in Sao Paulo.

    Danielle began working with MBS Academy in 2009 after meeting Mia and Leora in Austin, Texas at an MBS training seminar. With a degree in Marketing from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and a background in event coordinating, she has developed many skills which she applies to her position as Business Manager at MBS Academy. 

    While Danielle is not an MBS Practitioner, she is largely responsible for actively expanding the academy and sharing the work throughout the world. Danielle is based in Austin, Texas the majority of the time, and enjoys traveling and attending MBS trainings when possible.

    Hobbies: Living on a lake, wakeboarding, snowboarding, sunsets and spending time with her husband, puppies, and new son Eli.

    MBS Advisors


    Dr. Thriemer, specialized in cardio-surgery, internal medicine, cardiology and tropical medicine in several international hospitals. Between 1982 and 1995, Dr. Thriemer spent most of his time in Congo as a physician, developing their health-care systems and facilities, a connection he maintains to this day, periodically visiting to introduce new developments.

    He completed his training in the work of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, with Mia Segal in 1992 and later took the course again, as an assistant. He is a cardiologist in private practice in Stuttgart, providing general medicine and cardiology treatment, integrating specific elements of the work he learned with Mia and introducing it to his patients, with increasing success.



    Veit graduated from MBS Academy in 1992. He has worked as an MBS Assistant in MBS Foundation Trainings. Viet is a school teacher of science and physical education, and over the past 10 years has created a breakthrough in the educational concept of his regional school-system, introducing this method into the German State School system curriculum on a wide scale, proving progress in student’s academic performance, as well as reduction of athletic-related injuries. Veit has inspired enthusiasm for the Feldenkrais work among students, parents and faculty alike. He will be continuing this exciting project with Mia and Leora, designing a specialized Mind Body Studies curriculum for school children and teachers, supported by the German educational system.




    Dr. Leon Segal is an innovation psychologist with over 25 years of experience in the fields of human factors, product innovation and experience design. He completed his Ph.D. degree in cognitive psychology under a grant from NASA, designing future cockpits and complex systems. Leon left NASA to join innovation firm IDEO in Palo Alto, California, and later founded IDEO Israel Innovation, one of IDEO's global network of studios. In 2002 he founded Living Patterns, an innovation consultancy, providing innovation and design services for companies worldwide.

    Over the past 10 years, Dr. Segal has deepened his specialization in collaborative creativity and the design of new experiences. He has directed innovation processes and taught innovation and creativity in companies and schools around the world—France, Germany, Israel, Sweden, Turkey, USA, Venezuela, and more. His recent venture is Innovationship, a Silicon Valley company focused on the education of design thinking and innovation processes.
